Howard was the star for the US against England and will need to be healthly for the US to advance.
In the 29th minute of the game Saturday England’s Emile Heskey slid into to try and get to a ball before Howard could, Howard got there first and Heskey’s foot caught Howard in the chest leaving Howard “in agony”. The US keeper stayed in the game and received a cortisone shot at half time to be able to play the second half.
Team officals said no further tests are needed for goalkeeper Tim Howard and he is making progress recovering from bruised ribs. They also said Howard will play against Slovenia.
