NHL News: Detroit Red Wings GM Ken Holland Signs 5-Year-Extension

He’s done a good job building the team, now he get’s 5 more years to play around.

Detroit has won 4 Stanley Cups since Holland was promoted to the GM spot in 1997. The Wings have also set a record of having 10 straight seasons with atleast 100 points (100 points isn’t as hard to do now as it used to be, in the post lockout world were there are no ties one team is assured 2 points).

Assistant GM Jim Nill aslo signed a 5-year-extension to stay along side Holland as he’s been for the last 12 years. Nill is given credit for selecting players like Pavel Datsyuk in the 6th round and Henrik Zetterberg 210th overall.
