News

In the final bout of Group Stage 2 of the World Boxing Classic, undefeated WBA Super Middleweight Champion scored a shutout over Allan Green, winning a unanimous decision by scores of 120-108 on all three judges’ cards.

Green was making his tournament debut, filling in for Jermain Taylor, who dropped out of the Super Six after suffering a devastating knockout to Arthur Abraham in Group Stage 1. With the defeat, Green remains the only fighter without a win in the tournament and stands in last place with no points. He can still advance into the next round but will need some magic against Mikkel Kessler in Group Stage 3.

The victory sees Ward overtake Abraham for first place, now leading with 4 points to Abraham’s 3, and guarantees him a spot in the semifinals. Ward next takes on fellow American Andre Dirrell in Group Stage 3.
