Rumor: Three Glee Movies on the Way?

News, Rumors

The first season of Glee was by all accounts a monumental success for 20th Century Fox Television. The show was a hit, the five compilation albums have sold like gangbusters, and the songs have been frequently downloaded at iTunes. If that wasn’t enough, a third season has been greenlighted before the second season could make it to the air. Plus the first official tie-in book for the series, Glee: The Beginning, is hitting store shelves in August. It will be followed by Glee: Foreign Exchange later this year.

Still not satisfied? Okay, would three Glee films make you happy? Say what?

Gossip site Hollywood Life says that 20th Century Fox Television has the “option” to get the stars of the hit series involved in up to three movies based on the hit show.

So it’s like High School Musical all over again.

Apparently, the contract that was signed by the stars before shooing the pilot episode in 2008 said the following:

[The actor] hereby grants Fox three exclusive, irrevocable options to engage [the actor] in up to, respectively, three feature length motion pictures.

I’m not ashamed to admit that I dug the first season of Glee. However, the last half of the season felt like it was trying to cram too much too fast. And now with literary tie-ins and the potential for a trilogy of movies it could be overkill.

It all depends on what sort of shenanigans will happen to the Glee kids. Maybe they’ll cut loose with Kevin Bacon, or Rachel Berry might try her luck on Broadway.

With that in mind, I’ll leave you to post your thoughts on which celebrities you would like to see in the Glee movies if they do in fact get made.
