'80s Teen Pop Idols Battle Admid Giant Reptiles

Casting News, News

The Syfy Channel and Asylum (the studio behind such renown classics as Transmorphers and The Day The Earth Stopped) have once again teamed up to unite 1980s pop-star rivals Debbie Gibson and Tiffany in a new collective lowering of their career status.

The two will co-star in Mega Python vs. Gatoroid — which will be directed by Mary Lambert (Pet Sematary). Oh, Mary. What went wrong?

Naomi Selfman (Evil Eyes) writes the screenplay in which Gibson will play an animal-rights nutjob who frees a bunch of exotic snakes into the Everglades — where they, as expected, grow to mega sizes. Tiffany will play an equally nutjob park ranger who feeds steroids to a bunch of endangered alligators to save them from the snakes. Chaos (and unintended hilarity) follows.

The two former singers have previously starred in movies for Syfy and Asylum such as Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus and Mega Piranha — don’t ask me to tell you which was in which; I always get the two confused.

The movie will begin shooting this month and will air sometime next year. Expect it to land on DVD soon after — and for thousands of brain dead Americans to rent it expecting an honest-to-god good movie. Losers.
