NFL News: Pittsburgh Steelers OT Willie Colon Tears Achilles

News

The Steelers haven’t yet confirmed the injury, but preliminary reports are not good for Colon.

If it is an Achilles tear, Colon will require surgery and 5-6 months of recovery. 6 months is right on the edge of the season so it’s possible Colon will be out for the entire year.

Colon was working on agility drills in Pittsburgh when the injury occured. “It looks like it’s an Achilles,” Colon’s agent Joe Linta said. “We want to wait to confirm it, but that’s kind of our worst fears.”

With Colon down, that is big parts of last year’s offense that will not be playing for Pittsburgh for at least a portion of the season. Colon, QB Ben Roethlisberger has been suspended 6 games by the league, and the team traded away WR Santonio Holmes to the Jets.
