Saturday Night MMA TV Ratings: Strikeforce vs. UFC

News

Wrestling Observer is reporting that Strikeforce/M-1 Global’s Fedor vs Werdum was another successful broadcast on Showtime with an average household rating of 1.5 while MMAJunkie is reporting that the broadcast reached a peak rating of 2.1 for the main event. They also report that the average viewing figure was around 550,000 with more than 700,000 watching the main event. This makes last Saturday’s show the third most watched Strikeforce event on Showtime, after last year’s Carano vs Cyborg and January’s Strikeforce: Miami.

Spike TV’s cable premiere of UFC 113 aired head-to-head as per the UFC’s strategy of counterprogamming Strikeforce events. It secured 1.5million viewers but as Spike is in more homes than Showtime its average household rating of 1.1 was slightly lower than Fedor vs. Werdum. UFC 113 did perform strongly in key demos, being the most watched program in its timeslot amongst men 18-34 and men 18-49.
