Watch the Official Trailer for Harry Potter & The Deathly Hollows

News, Trailers

Warner Bros. isn’t pussyfooting around with its official trailer for Harry Potter & the Deathly Hollows. The studio is proclaiming it “The Motion Picture Event of a Generation.” Wow. Just wow. Okay, we get. People love the books and have enjoyed the movies, but with such a quote, if fans walk away disappointed what are the repercussions? While David Yates has made the last two films palpable with his direction, Prisoner of Azkaban has always remained a favorite of mine. In this first full-length trailer of a film that will be delivered in two parts I can only grin at the stuff that Voldemort says (and how he says it). Such a powerful being, yet he has a voice that inspires laughter, not fear.

While I kid, I’m sure the films will make boatloads of cash. 3D presentations (insert eye roll here) and IMAX showings are certain to guarantee that the last two movies will be the most profitable. We showed you the teaser that played at the MTV Movie Awards, but this is the one that will appear in front on The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (Eclipse, for short) this week. I’m sure another one will appear in the month of September with the release of Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole. Then the studio will start pushing the release of the second installment with a trailer timed with the Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides release next May. Or maybe as early as March in front of Rango or April in front of Rio. At least, that’s what makes the most sense.

Alright, Harry Potter fans, watch the first official trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I:

Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows is directed by British filmmaker David Yates. Steve Kloves handles the script duties; he’s done all of the adaptations except for Order of the Phoenix. This is based on J.K. Rowling’s series of books which I hear has sold quite a few copies. Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows: Part I arrives in theaters just in time for Thanksgiving on November 19th. Gobble gobble.
