Rango Poster Offers First Look at Johnny Depp's Reptile Side

News, Projects

Not much is known about Rango, the new animated film from director Gore Verbinski.

Due for release next March, Rango stars Johnny Depp as a chameleon experiencing an identity crisis. Beyond that, your guess is as good as mine when it comes to story details. Not even a truly bizarre teaser trailer offered any real clues towards the film’s plot.

Now, though, a poster for the film has given audiences their first glimpse at Depp’s character, a lizard who apparently likes wearing Hawaiian shirts.

Isla Fisher, Abigail Breslin, Alfred Molina, Bill Nighy and Timothy Olyphant co-star and a new trailer will debut July 9. Also make sure you check out the film’s website at www.rangomovie.com. When you get there, click away with your mouse as there are a bunch of fun things to discover

In the meantime, anybody want to offer their best guess as to what this movie will be about? Whatever the plot, it should be entertaining.

Verbinski has shown he is more than just a director who shoots pretty action movies based on theme park rides with films such as Mouse Hunt, The Ring and The Weather Man. The filmmaker’s distinct visual style and sense of humor should help ensure that Rango is something worth getting excited about.
