Stoudemire opted out of his contract, but the Suns still held out hope he would be returning.
Stoudemire broke off contract negotiations with the Suns tuesday night and appears ready to move on. The Heat, Bulls, Knicks, and Nets are looking into adding Stoudemire.
Stoudemire met with the Heat Wednesday night where Pat Riley pitched a scenario in which Dwayne Wade, Lebron James and Stoudemire would form the core of the line-up, with each player signing at about $15 million, less than the players can make in a sign and trade. Riley reportedly pointed out the tax laws in Florida would make up for the decreased salary.
