10 Thoughts On Superstars 07.01.2010 – Feat. Christian, Zack Ryder, Yoshi Tatsu

Reviews, Shows, Top Story, TV Shows

Happy July, everyone! Welcome back for another edition of 10 Thoughts On Superstars.

1. Superstars is a unique type of show for the WWE, not restricted to an assigned brand. Normal guidelines don’t apply, so they can do crazy things for the sake of entertainment. I wish they would utilize that freedom. Throw together a match with a mid-carder and a top star. See if they sink or swim. What better way to examine the extent of their talent?

2. Zack Ryder is wearing normal trunks! He looks so…normal.

3. Goldust has such an intriguing style to his in-ring work. The man simply vomits entertainment.

4. And The Bellas return to Superstars. Wait…don’t tell me…are they gonna switch? Oh snap, they ARE going to switch!

5. Jillian Hall is wrestling like she has something to prove tonight. She’s actually helping Nikki Bella look better by selling her moves properly.

6. A promo for Ricky Steamboat…here’s hoping he’s doing okay and will recover quickly.

7. Curt Hawkins reminds me of JD from “Scrubs” when he enters. When he puts his arms out, I expect him to shout “EEEEAGLLLLLEE!”

8. Chris Sabin’s twin got caught with his hand in the cookie jar and gets ejected. Interesting…

9. Hawkins and Christian do very well together. The match was very physical, they perpetually teased pinfalls, and their moves were very entertaining once performed. The finish was a bit predictable, but overall a very good match.

10. It seems Superstars is the permanent home of the “ECW Orphans” i.e. Goldust, Yoshi Tatsu, Christian…etc. I can hardly remember the last time I saw any of these guys (besides Christian) on two of their home brands in a row. I feel they could provide a decent match, however quick, on Raw where useless Guest Host related fluff is instead.

Physically, Superstars was an improvement on last week’s show. The matches made me want to watch, instead of making me wish I could fast-forward. Superstars has very nearly become its own brand, seeing as how all the stars repeat more than “The Brady Bunch” on Nick at Nite. I’d like to see them expand at least to other mid-card talent. That would be a good start.

Thanks for reading! I’ll be back next week. Until then, you can find me on Twitter. @KELLYFLOYDBRAND
