Quinton Jackson to face Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at UFC 119

News

MMA Junkie is reporting that Quinton Jackson will face Antonio Rogerio Nogueria, most likely at UFC 119. The match is something of a surprise as it had been expected that the UFC would seek to book Jackson against former light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida, but Jackson has publicly expressed disinterest in the match on the basis that it would be ‘boring’.

Jackson himself seemed to favor a rematch with Forest Griffin in a rematch of the 2008 fight where Jackson’s light heavyweight title reign was ended by a controversial decision after a closely fought twenty-five minute war. The fight gives both fighters a chance to bounce back after disappointing performances at UFC 114 with Jackson having been soundly defeated by Rashad Evans while ‘Little Nog’ escaped with a victory after being outfought by underdog Jason Brilz.
