Junior Dos Santos vs. Roy Nelson Winner to Get Heavyweight Title Shot

MMAWeekly reports that the winner of the Heavyweight fight between at UFC 116 in Oakland, CA between Junior Dos Santos and Roy “Big Country” Nelson, will be next in line for a Heavyweight title shot at the winner of Brock Lesnar-Cain Velasquez.

“You’re going to see Cain and Brock fight, then coming up Dos Santos is going to fight ‘Big Country,’ and then the winner of that fight will get the next shot,” President Dana White said at the post-fight press conference on Saturday night.

Dos Santos has wins over the top contenders in Fabricio Werdum, Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic and Gabriel Gonzaga. The 26 year old feels ready for the title opportunity, but he’s coming up against a determined “Big Country, who requested the fastest route to a title shot possible, earning his shot with a lightning quick knockout win over Stefan Struve in his last fight.
