The hulking defender is working on a new contract with the Bruins.
Chara is currently scheduled to make $7.5 million next year in the last year of his current deal. Chara has been talking with Boston GM Peter Chiarelli about an extension to keep Chara in a B’s uniform for a few more years.
Chara and Center Patrice Bergeron both are in the last year of their deals and Chiarelli said he’s had contact with both players and expects to extend both players.
