Amir Khan released from hospital after malaria scare

News

The Guardian has a report on Amir Khan’s recent health problems with the WBA light-welterweight champion having been taken to hospital on Sunday after feeling weak and complaining of a high temperature. There were fears that Khan had caught malaria during a recent trip to South Africa to watch the World Cup but all tests have came back negative for the disease.

He was released in the morning and has been told to rest for a few weeks. Its unlikely that Khan’s health scare will delay his in-ring comeback, with the Khan camp already working on the assumption that he would next defend his title on December 11th. This defense will likely be against the winner of Marquez vs Diaz, a fight that Khan will be watching in person. Interestingly, Khan’s father is still talking about Amir’s next fight taking place in the UK but that seems highly unlikely.
