The pitcher said he felt something in his last start, but had to pull himself out of his start last night.
Peavy delivered a 2-2 pitch to Mike Napoli and jumped off the mound after the pitch and walked off the field with the head trainer. Peavy said in his last start he felt something and had some bruising after the start that was treated by the training staff. They don’t know yet if the two injuries are related.
Peavy will undergo an MRI on his upper back and shoulder Wednesday to determine the extent of the injury. Ozzie Guillen said he expects Peavy to make a trip to the DL.
If it’s not a long term injury, Peavy will be helped by the All-Star break next week giving him more time to rest the area.
