It was back on May 5th that we showed you the “illegal” trailer (courtesy of Ain’t It Cool News) for Robert Rodriguez’s Machete. That was a good way to celebrate Cinco De Mayo. Now, here is the trailer that most will see in front of Predators, which hits screens this weekend. (Thanks to IGN)
I must say that I was a little deflated after I watched the trailer. Probably because I liked the look of the faux trailer with its scratches and cigarette burns. The way this trailer was edited together just didn’t click. All the major stars get their names in the trailer – including an “introducing Don Johnson” (so is he like the Julia Roberts of this picture?). It still looks like it could be bad-ass, especially a machete so long that it would make Crocodile Dundee wince.
Robert Rodriguez wrote the script and co-directs with his longtime editor Ethan Maniquis. In Machete Danny Trejo plays the titular antihero looking for revenge. Hiding out as a day laborer, Machete is double-crossed by a corrupt state senator. Now everyone must pay! Robert De Niro, Steven Seagal, Don Johnson, Jessica Alba, Cheech Marin, Michelle Rodriguez, Lindsay Lohan, and Jeff Fahey co-star.
20th Century Fox is releasing the film on September 3, 2010.
