Wolverine To Star In New Ongoing Series By Charlie Huston

News

Beginning this Winter, Charlie Huston (Moon Knight) will be penning a new Wolverine ongoing series, titled Wolverine: The Best There is. Going against the popular topic of Wolverine’s past, however, Huston promises that this book will be all about the present and future. Including a brand new villain created with no past ties to our title character, so as to keep the book from turning into flashbacks into Wolverine’s secret past.

I can live with that.

The villain, named Contagion, Huston describes as the opposite of how he views the typical Wolverine villain (feral, a samurai, or an assassin). “Someone that was explicitly not a fighter, someone that was physically frail,” Huston said. “Someone that was tall. Someone that was pretty and elegant.”

While not much is said, his name is most obviously a disease reference and I think it’s a fair bet that his powers are viral based, and it’s possible his interest in Logan involves the healing factor.

Huston also make a claim that he’s trying to avoid using too many established supporting characters, rather he’ll be making his own or using long forgotten C and D list characters.

On art duties it’s been announced that Juan Jose Ryp will be handling penciling duties, and while I’m not overly familiar with him, what I’ve seen leads me to believe that he might just have what it takes to draw Wolverine.

I’ll have more on this as I get it!
