Comics I'm Buying, Wednesday 7/14

A big week…

Adventure Comics #516 – So, I finally read The Great Darkness Saga and resolved to have more patience for Paul Levitz’s Legion.

Batgirl #12 – Doing my part to keep this little gem of a title going- while I miss Cassandra Cain, Stephanie Brown has become one of my favorite characters, particularly as she matures.

Batman #701 – Grant Morrison and Tony Daniel rejoin to tell the gap between RIP and Final Crisis! This promises hints to Dr. Hurt and The Return of Bruce Wayne! Morrison is on an unreal hot steak in Batman and Robin, making this must-buy.

Bird of Prey #3 – With the nice John Ostrander in Secret Six last week, I still need my Gail Simone fix, so here we are.

Booster Gold #34 – Hopefully the comedy is toned down enough for me to go back to enjoying a really good book. This is a make or break issue for me.

Rebels #18 – I’m still psyched to see where Brainiac 2 vs. Braniac goes… though I wish it would go somewhere with less Starfire- she’s annoying.

Superman #701 – JMS is getting a shot with a concept I don’t particularly like.

Astonishing Spider-Man and Wolverine #2 – Wolverine and Spider-Man messed up the timeline. Let’s watch them put it right. Sure, it’s just wacky hijinks, but Jason Aaron rules at those.

Daredevil #508 – Shadowland #1 really made my day. Let’s see Andy Diggle build on it. If you bought crap like Seige and Secret Invasion, but refuse to even try this, you suck.

Gorilla Man #1 of 3 – It’s Jeff Parker doing a story with his cynical talking gorilla-soldier. I just wish it wasn’t $3.99.

Invincible Iron Man #28 – So, Matt Fractions Invincible Iron Man… is it in the discussion for definitive Iron Man run yet?

Spectacular Spider-Girl #3 of 4 – The most consistently entertaining and deep Spider-family book of the past twenty years deserves to be bought.

Thanos Imperative #2 of 6 – As much as I’m sure I’ll love this, I miss getting Abnett and Lanning on cosmic Marvel multiple times a month.

Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #12 – The only contender for Spider-Girl’s crown of best Spider-book. You 616 fans don’t know what you’ve been missing.

Uncanny X-Men the Heroic Age #1 – I don’t really think a lot will progress here, but three Matt Fraction stories, one with SWORD’s Steven Sanders means I’m there.

X-Men Second Coming #2 – So long as the fight wasn’t the issue and Hope actually gives mutants something good to look forward to, this event was a huge success.
