NBA News: Utah Jazz Finalize Trade For Minnesota's Al Jefferson

News

Jefferson will fill the hole in the front court left by Carlos Boozer heading to Chicago.

The Jazz will have agreed to send two future first round picks to the Timberwolves for Jefferson. Because the Jazz have a $14 million trade exception from the Boozer sign-and-trade, they don’t have to send any players back to Minnesota.

Jefferson was the key piece in the trade that sent Kevin Garnett to the Boston Celtics. Jefferson averaged over 20 points and 11 rebounds for Minnesota.

Minnesota had been looking to trade Jefferson for a few weeks in hopes of getting better defensively. The Wolves gave Drako Milicic and Nikola Pekovic contracts this offseason as well as trading for Miami’s Michael Beasley to completely reshape their front line.
