Countdown to the MLS All-Star Game

With the excitement of the World Cup now over, American soccer fans now have to return to the world of the MLS and have to wait another four years before the sport of soccer will receive worth while media coverage. 

That will change this month as Manchester United kicks off its North American 2010 Tour this Friday, July 16, vs Celtic FC in Toronto.  The tour also includes stops in Philadelphia on July 21 against the Philadelphia Union, July 25 Man U will face off against the Kansas City Wizards in Kansas City,all leading up to the July 28 match against the MLS All-Stars in Houston.  Man U’s tour will wrap up with a grand finale stop in Guadalajara to take on Chivas on July 30.

Sir Alex Ferguson announced on ManUtd.com that he will be taking a 22-man squad for the club’s pre-season tour.  Here is the list of the traveling squad:

Edwin van der Sar, Tomasz Kuszczak, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, Dimitar Berbatov, John O’Shea, Wes Brown, Rafael, Jonny Evans, Darren Fletcher, Darron Gibson, Chris Smalling, Nani, Fabio, Federico Macheda, Danny Welbeck, Javier Hernandez, Mame Biram Diouf, Tom Cleverley, Ritchie De Laet, Corry Evans, Ben Amos, Gabriel Obertan.

ManUtd.com is reporting that after suffering a calf injury while training, Captain Gary Neville will not be making the trip across the pond.

All games will be broadcast on ESPN2.
