Spoiler Warnings: How did Batman Survive the Helicopter Crash at the end of RIP in Batman #701 by Grant Morrison?

At the end of RIP, Batman forces Dr. Hurt’s helicopter to crash into the bay. In Batman #701, Batman survives this because surviving is what he does! He slows his breathing to trigger a “dive reflex” and barely survives, thinking it must then be impossible for Dr. Hurt to do the same. Since he’s in Batman and Robin, that’s clearly not the case.
