NFL News: Green Bay Packers DT Johnny Jolly Suspended For 2010 Season

News

Jolly has been a key part of the Packers line.

Jolly was suspended for the entire 2010 season, at least, for violating the leagues substance abuse policy. The suspension comes from a 2008 arrest in Houston that Jolly is facing charges for.

Jolly was arrested in July 2008 with more than 200 grams of Codeine, if convicted Jolly could face up to 20 years in prison. The charges against Jolly were dropped in July 2009 so lab technicians could become proficient with a new piece of equipment that measures codeine. He was reindicted in December 2009.

“Johnny is a good player that loves everything about the game of football,” Packers general manager Ted Thompson said in a statement. “We appreciate the contributions he has made to the Packers the past four seasons. His focus and priorities now lie elsewhere — our thoughts are with him during this difficult personal time.”
