WWE Monday Night RAW Report – 07.19.2010: Sheamus With Two Targets; John Cena Baits the Nexus

IT’S TIME…

IT’S TIME TO BE AWESOME!

Oh wow, the RAW GMail booked Mark Henry versus Wade Barrett with the Nexus barred from ringside. And we got a triple threat main event opening RAW?

#1 Contender’s Match: Randy Orton v. Edge v. Chris Jericho

Bell rings and the Apex Predator takes it to both Edge and Jericho. It is short-lived as Edge isolates Orton and Jericho plays traffic cop. Orton takes it to the next level and sends Edge out of the ring. Jericho takes it to Orton until Edge gets back in the ring. Jeri-Edge works together on Orton. Double suplex attempt is countered by Orton into a double DDT and covers Edge for two. Knee drop connects and again. Knee to the throat and Orton is in control. In the corner, Edge is in trouble. RKO attempt is blocked and Edge sends Orton into a Codebreaker! Jericho covers and Edge breaks it up. Jericho & Edge fight outside the ring as we go to commercial break.

We’re back and Jericho takes control of Edge. Once Edge lands on the retaining wall, Jericho gets on the apron and eats an Orton knee lift into Edge. On the apron, Orton drops Jericho with the Hangman DDT. Cover gets two and Edge pulls Orton out of the ring and slams him against the wall. Edge goes to work on Orton after disposing Jericho. Back inside, Orton kicks out at two. Edge goes to the ropes, but Jericho trips him up and sends him to the announcer’s table. Jericho takes advantage, covering Orton with the feet on the ropes…but still gets a two count. Orton comes back…POWERSLAM! Two count. Jericho rolls out to the apron, but that is deadly as Edge sneak attacks to fail. 3.0 Backbreaker on Edge for two! Kick to the ribs sends Edge out of the ring. Hangman DDT attempt on Jericho…countered to the Walls! Orton gets close, but Jericho pulls away, but Edge comes in with the Edgucution. Cover gets two! Edge with the spear attempt…Jericho counters with the Walls! Edge gets the ropes, and gets a rollup for two. Jericho gets out of the ring. Orton back in…RK-NO! Edgucator! Cover by Edge gets two! Edge looks for the spear. Jericho stops it and we get a series of rollups…TRIPLE CLOTHESLINE! Jericho sends Edge flying and here is Orton. RKO COUNTERED! LIONSAULT MISSES! HERE COMES ORTON! RKO to Jericho! RKO to Edge! Match over!

Winner: Randy Orton
Grade: A-

We’re back and Edge wants Chris Jericho come back out to the ring. It seems that Edge is tired of Jericho. He wants their rivalry to end right now tonight. Jericho agrees. Last week, Jericho had a talk with Wade Barrett and he mentions that he could snap his fingers and end Edge’s career by using the Nexus. Edge thinks that he has something better to offer than Jericho.

Here comes the Nexus. They banter a bit, surrounding Edge. Edge sees what is going to happen and he gets his ass handed to him by the Nexus. Spear by Sheffield! Jericho rubs it in and the Nexus looks intently at the Nexus, who aren’t impressed. Jericho lays into Barrett and he, too, succumbs to the relentless Nexus! Barrett says that Jericho didn’t teach him anything. They leave the ring to huge boos.

We’re back and we recap what just happened. Backstage, the Nexus heads to their locker room, but Josh Matthews interviews Wade Barrett. Josh questions if anyone can individually compete with Mark Henry? Wade vows to write a new chapter and it does not favor Mark Henry well. Sheamus talks to Wade about a proposal, but Wade wants Sheamus to come inside, but Sheamus isn’t interested.

Michael Cole interviews John Cena. Cena says he can’t stop him…that no one can stop the Nexus. Cena wants Wade Barrett and the Nexus to meet him in the ring later tonight. Cena says “If you can’t beat them…” and walks off.

Eve Torres v. Maryse

Ted DiBiase, Jr. is at ringside as the match starts. Maryse mouths Eve and Eve piefaces her. Maryse decides to own Eve from that point on. Eve kicks Maryse in the face and covers her for three, despite Maryse’s foot being on the rope.

Winner: Eve Torres>
Grade: FTS

Post match, Ted DiBiase argues with the referee and John Morrison comes out to attack, hitting Starship Pain.

Sheamus Speaks

Sheamus says that he beat Cena last night in a steel cage. Since he beat Cena thrice, it’s dominance. Cena is in the back of the line, but Randy Orton is next. Sheamus went to Wade Barrett that he demanded a truce. So now, Sheamus will stay out of the Nexus’ way and they will stay out of his way. Sheamus vows to be the longest reigning champion of all time.

AWESOME!

The Miz comes out and he has the briefcase. Miz tells Sheamus that he has a Miz problem – that only he controls the fate of the WWE Championship because of the Money in the Bank briefcase. Miz promises to watch Sheamus. He explains how he will wait for the perfect moment. Sheamus interrupts Miz saying that he’s nothing and that Sheamus is the WWE Champion. The RAW GMail chimes in and announces that the Miz should stay ringside and watch the next match…Sheamus against Evan Bourne!

Sheamus v. Evan Bourne

Evan Bourne makes a delayed entrance. Sheamus goes for a quick kick, but Evan Bourne kicks Sheamus out of the ring. Sheamus is pissed off…

We’re back and Sheamus is still reeling. Bourne kicks Sheamus, but eats a clothesline for it. Bourne gets up and Sheamus posts him in the corner before going on the offensive. Sheamus locks a modified bow and arrow using the ringpost. Headlock applied. Bourne gets out and looks for a hurrancuarana, but Sheamus turns that into a backbreaker for two. Miz looks on while Sheamus continues to control Bourne. Bourne gets out of the headlock and he kicks Sheamus in the leg. To the corner we go and Sheamus eats an enzugiri. Spinning heel kick by Bourne and Bourne hits a dropkick! Rollup gets two. Bourne kicks Sheamus into position. Airbourne attempt, but Sheamus rolls out of the ring. Bourne connects with a dive and Miz looks ready to cash in. Sheamus shoves Bourne into the wall. Low blow by Sheamus and here comes the pump kick and down goes Bourne.

Winner: Sheamus
Grade: C

Post match, the Miz attacks Sheamus with the briefcase. Skull Crushing Finale connects on the briefcase before saying he’s cashing in. It is announced that he is cashing in, but the referee wanted to check on Sheamus before ringing the bell. Sheamus plays dead long enough before R-Truth makes his return, wanting some Miz. Miz waves off the cash-in and runs away from R-Truth.

Commercials.

The Miz is angry saying that R-Truth cost him his chance. Miz says that he has a year and that he will take his place as WWE Champion.

Sheamus is walked backstage as the Bella Twins & Gail Kim laugh. Randy Orton comes out and he reiterates the fact that Sheamus is a walking target. It doesn’t matter to Orton as the champion will be wearing a giant bullseye and that Orton will hit that bullseye with a RKO.

John Cena looks on.

Santino Marella & Vladimir Koslov v. William Regal & Zack Ryder

Marella & Ryder start things off and Ryder trips Marella up. Tag to Koslov and it’s a Russian Massacre. Tag to Regal and Koslov works Regal over a fireman’s carry and tags back Marella. Regal sends Marella into the corner and takes his head off for two. Ryder tags and drops his weight for two. Headlock applied. Ryder goes to the top and Marella moves out of the way. Ryder gets kicked away and Koslov decimates Ryder. Spinebuster connects and tag to Marella. The Salute by Marella connects and that makes the win.

Winners: Santino Marella & Vladimir Koslov

Wade Barrett v. Mark Henry

Barrett plays possum for a moment before getting headbutted by Henry. Barrett takes his time getting back in the ring. Lockup again and Barrett gives Henry a headbutt of his own. Henry remembers that he is a monster and he decks Barrett. Pillar to post we go and Barrett goes down via clothesline for a two count. Headbutt with authority and Barrett responds with one as well. Kick to the knee and Barrett runs into a powerslam. Cover gets two. Henry drags Barrett to the corner and he looks for a corner splash. The Nexus comes out and it was distraction enough for Barrett to get Henry up on his shoulders and botch his finishing move…Henry’s neck snapping off the bottom rope. It’s enough to get the win.

Winner: Wade Barrett
Grade: D-

Wade kicks Mark Henry out of the ring and he invites John Cena out to the ring. Cena walks towards the ring…the confrontation is next!

We’re back and the Nexus is still waiting on John Cena. After a promo-within-a-promo by Michael Tarver, John Cena makes his entrance. Cena goes to the ring apron and he stares the Nexus down. Cena says how he got screwed by them the past few weeks and that Cena said that he should have made a truce a long time ago. Cena wants a truce as well. Wade Barrett denies the truce offer by Cena. Wade wants something much bigger. Wade wants Cena to join Nexus. Heel turn perhaps? Wade says that Cena can achieve much more with the Nexus backing him. Cena takes off his armband, but puts it back on saying that he can’t do it. Wade gives him two more choices, leave like a coward or stay and get his ass kicked. Cena decides to get out of the ring and walk back up the ramp. Cena has one last thing. Whether he has help or if he does it himself…he’ll take them down. The peace offering was a test and since they said no…their lives will be made hell. Cena says he quietly formed a team to take down the Nexus at Summerslam. Here is Cena’s team. Edge! John Morrison! R-Truth! Khali! Chris Jericho! BRET HART?! What the HELL? They rush the ring and the Nexus run away!

The Inside Pulse

This RAW gets high marks with an A-. If you can overlook the tag match and the diva’s match, it would be nearly a perfect show. The Miz almost became the WWE Champion. Bret Hart returns to join the CeNation in taking down the Nexus. Overall, Summerslam is looking to be awesome! I’ll be back this week for 10 Thoughts on Pulse Wrestling!
