NHL News: Philadelphia Flyers Trade Simon Gagne To Tampa Bay Lightning

The Flyers shed a little salary with the move.

The Lightning sent defenseman Matt Walker and a 4th round draft pick to the Flyers for Gagne who played a big role in leading the Flyers to the Stanley Cup Finals.

Gagne has been with the Flyers his entire career after they drafted him in 1998. Gagne has scored 259 goals and 265 assists in 664 games for the Flyers.

“In adding Simon to the Lightning today, we acquire a very talented player that will play along side our top forwards,” Lightning vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman said. “With his combination of speed and skill we are excited to have him with us….”
