NBA News: New Orleans Hornets Still Saying No To Trades For Guard Chris Paul

News

It is widely expected that Chris Paul will formally demand a trade at a meeting Monday, thinking this, execs from around the league have been calling the Hornets trying to pry the Guard away only to be told no.

Sources have told ESPN.com that even if Paul does demand a trade at the Monday meeting, the Hornets still will likely not trade the superstar guard right away, knowing they have two full seasons before the 25-year-old can opt out and become a free agent in the summer of 2012.

At the meeting, Hornets new GM Dell Demps and Coach Monty Williams are expected to pitch Paul on their idea of how to quickly turn the team around a build a winning roster around Paul. If Paul doesn’t like what he hears, he is likely to provide the team a list of teams he would like to be traded too, a list that reportedly starts with the Orlando Magic.
