All that’s left is for Oswalt to waive his no trade clause.
The Astros and Phillies have agreed to terms on a trade that would send Roy Oswalt to the two-time defending NL Champions. The only hurdle left for the teams is waiting to see if Oswalt will waive his no trade clause and agree to go to the Phils.
Oswalt has said that he would like his contract option picked up by any team that trades for him, the Phillies have said no. But Oswalt has also said he would be open to restructuring his deal to come to a compromise in order to get out of Houston.
Though the players in the trade haven’t been confirmed, it is believed the deal is centered on J.A. Happ going to the Astros.
