The Asylum, everybody’s favorite low-budget science fiction and horror studio, is back with their latest “masterpiece.”
Production has just wrapped on Titanic 2, the film nobody dared make … until now. But would you expect any less from Asylum? The studio has really developed the art of mockbusters in recent years, releasing such cinematic treats as Transmorphers, The 18-Year-Old Virgin, I Am Omega and Snakes on a Train. Now, they have turned their eye for cheaply produced, straight-to-DVD garbage to that great historical disaster, the Titanic.
Set on the 100th anniversary of the original voyage, Titanic 2 follows a modern luxury liner named the Titanic 2 who discovers the Alanis Morissette meaning of irony when a tsunami hurls an iceberg at the new ship and promptly sinks it. Titanic 2 is written and directed by Shane Van Dyke and stars Bruce Davison, Brooke Burns, Shane Van Dyke and Marie Westbrook. It will be released on DVD August 24, 2010.
