NFL News: Shawne Merriman Threatens Holdout From Training Camp

News

He joins half the team, seemingly, in threatening to hold out.

Merriman told the San Diego Union-Tribune that he would not show up on time for training camp unless he got some sort of security from management.

Merriman said he isn’t looking for a contract extension, or a raise in the one-year contract he hasn’t signed yet, rather, he’s looking for an assurance that he won’t be traded by the team.

“To me, it really comes down to, ‘Am I on the trading block this week? The third week of the season, am I on the block?’ Where is that comfortability for me?”

If Merriman does hold out, he will joing WR Vincent Jackson and OT Marcus McNeill.
