Paul Daley signs six-fight deal with Strikeforce (Updated)

News

As first reported by Middle Easy and picked up by numerous MMA media outlets, British welterweight Paul ‘Semtex’  Daley has signed a six-fight deal with Strikeforce. Middle Easy is also reporting that his first opponent in the organization will be Evangelista Cyborg.

Daley had been fighting independently after being sacked by the UFC for sucker-punching Josh Koscheck immediately after the two’s fight at UFC 113, and will be appearing as previously announced on Shark Fights’ debut PPV on September 11th. A potential hitch in his new deal with Strikeforce is that he’s still awaiting to hear from the Quebec Athletic Commission about what (if any) punishment he  will receive for the incident in May.

Update: MMA Junkie is now reporting that Paul Daley’s management has said that the British welterweight has yet to sign a contract with Strikeforce and that Strikeforce is just one of several organization’s that they have been talking to.

A Comics Nexus original, Will Cooling has written about comics since 2004 despite the best efforts of the industry to kill his love of the medium. He now spends much of his time over at Inside Fights where he gets to see muscle-bound men beat each up without retcons and summer crossovers.
