NHL News: St. Louis Blues Re-Sign Defenseman Erik Johnson

News

Johnson was a restricted free agent, but has re-signed with the club.

Johnson signed a two-year contract extension Monday, terms weren’t immediately released. Despite being a restricted free agent, Johnson wasn’t open to offer sheets from other teams since he sat out an entire year with a knee injury he suffered after he flipped a golf cart.

Johnson was the number 1 overall pick in the 2006 draft and began to show why last season with 10 goals and 29 assists. He has 15 goals and 57 assists in his two year career.

Both sides continue to talk about a long-term contract extension that would keep Johnson in St. Louis for much longer than two years.
