David Finch designs new Batman costume

News, Top Story

David Finch taking on writing and art chores on Batman: The Dark Knight was the subject of an article in his local newspaper. In it he talks about the new project, a lot of which was already covered, but there was an interesting tidbit at the end…

And then there’s the costume change.

DC Comics is tweaking the appearances of its major characters so that their images are more easily transferable across different media: comics, movies, animated shows, video games. The new Wonder Woman costume was unveiled earlier this summer — to mixed responses.

Batman’s new outfit has yet to be fully revealed.

“I tried to stay as conservative as I could,” Finch says. “There were a lot of discussions internally about what different people wanted.”

Well, we knew that if Bruce came back his costume would be a bit different, but with the reference to Wonder Woman, how different will it be? And with word of Grant Morrison’s Batman Inc. coming, how many Batmen will there be that need tailoring? Hmmm.

A previous Batman sketch by David Finch below, but not of the new costume.
