The Crimson Tide received 55 of the 59 first place votes to land the number 1 ranking. Ohio State received the other 4 and are ranked second in the poll.
Florida, Texas and Boise State round out the rest of the top 5. Boise State finished last season undefeated at 14-0 after beating TCU in the Fiesta Bowl.
Virginia Tech, TCU, Oklahoma, Nebraska, and Iowa are the rest of the top ten.
