Fabricio Werdum out until 2011

News

MMA Junkie is reporting that Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker has confirmed that Fabricio Werdum is out until early 2011, saying that “The date is really to be determined because Fabricio is not going to fight until the beginning of next year, so he’s going to be sidelined for the next five months”. The Brazilian is on a career high after ending the legendary winning streak of Fedor Emelianenko in June. It is believed that the layoff is due to longstanding problems with his elbow, with Werdum having delayed getting the problem fix for two years. There is no word on who will he face on his return, with there having been talk of him either challenging for Alistair Overeem’s Strikeforce Heavyweight Title or having a rematch against Fedor Emelianenko.
