Wells was injured with just over a half hour left in the second practice of the day on hit from safety Hamza Abdullah. A CT scan showed no broken ribs or any serious damage.
Coach Ken Whisenhunt said Wells was hit in the ribs by Abdullah on a play where Wells was running too high and Abdullah was just getting in good tackling position.
Abdullah felt terrible about the hit “Right now, I am just focused on Beanie and praying he is OK because that is not what I am out here to do, hurt anyone, especially one of my teammates,” he told the teams official site.
