Paul Daley to face Jorge Masvidal at Shark Fights 13

News

Paul Daley’s opponent for Shark Fights 13 has been confirmed as Jorge Masvidal. This will be the first time Daley has fought in North America since he was fired from the UFC for sucker-punching Josh Koscheck after their fight at UFC 113. Daley’s manager Wad Alameddine is confident that the investigation of the Quebec Athletic Commission shouldn’t prevent Daley fighting on September 11 at the Civic Center Coliseum in Amarillo, Texas. Alameddine told MMA Junkie that:

“We’ve been given a few ideas on how long a suspension Paul’s likely to get, and where the suspension is likely to be enforced…The more we understood the scenario, and the more we’ve spoken to the commission about what we should and shouldn’t be doing, the more we’ve felt re-assured that come the hearing we’re not going to have any problems competing anywhere, really.”

Jorge Masvidal is 20-5 over the course of his MMA career, having fought for Sengoku, Strikeforce, Bodog and most recently Bellator. This will be the American Top Team member’s return to welterweight after fighting at lightweight for much of his career.
