The following news items were posted on the August 10th edition of the ROH Newswire:
As was announced last night, Colt Cabana and El Generico will compete against Kevin Steen and Steve Corino at Glory By Honor IX in a Chain Match. Each competitor will have a strap around one wrist and will be chained to another member of the opposition. It is not known who will be chained to whom.
Both nights of the next set of ROH on HDNet tapings will feature a cage match. On Friday, August 20th, Delirious and Austin Aries will do battle inside the cage. The next night, Generico and Cabana step inside the cage with Steen and Corino.
The week after the HDNet tapings, Corino gets a chance to enter the Pick 6 Series as he will wrestle current #1 Roderick Strong on Friday, August 27th in Richmond, VA.
According to ROH, after evaluating Pick 6 petitions from two different challengers, “it’s safe to say that [the] next two championship challengers are set”. I am assuming one of the two will challenge for the ROH World Title match at Glory By Honor.
The Glory by Honor tag match between the Kings of Wrestling (Chris Hero & Claudio Castagnoli) and Wrestling’s Greatest Tag Team (Shelton Benjamin & Charlie Haas) will not be for the ROH World Tag Team titles, even if the Kings retain their belts at the Ultimate Endurance match in Charlotte (August 28th).
ROH is said to be close to signing a match for the next set of HDNet tapings that “could blow [the June 6, 2009 Four Corner Survival match between Jerry Lynn, Bryan Danielson, Austin Aries, and Tyler Black] out of the water.” Interesting that the Newswire chose to specifically mention that match.
The following wrestlers have been confirmed for the September 10th show in Plymouth, Massachusetts: Tyler Black, Chris Hero and Claudio Castagnoli with Shane Hagadorn, Eddie Edwards, Shawn Daivari with Prince Nana, Christopher Daniels, Austin Aries, and Roderick Strong.
ROH will return to Los Angeles for the WrestleReunion convention (January 28-30, 2011). VIP ticket holders may purchase their tickets this coming Friday at WrestleReunion’s website. Tickets will be available to the general public starting on August 16th and may be purchased on ROH’s website.
