MLB News: Atlanta Braves 3B Chipper Jones Tears ACL, Out For Season

News

He’s been so injury ridden these last few years.

Jones tore his left ACL fielding a ground ball, the 6 month recovery time would put Jones back in time for the start of next season, if he decides to play again next year.

Jones was considering retiring at the end of the year, and now that his year is over the discussion will come sooner than later.

Jones has been a key contributor for the NL East leading Braves with a .265 BA, 10 HRs, and 46 RBIs. The Braves have options to replace Jones internally, but could look at a player like Aramis Ramirez, Ty Wigginton, or Edwin Encarnacion to replace the switch hitting third baseman.
