The charge stems from an altercation with his father-in-law at Citi Field.

Rodriguez was charged with third-degree assault after the incident Wednesday night. He was being held at the ballpark Thursday morning. It is expected he will be arraigned Thursday morning in Queens Municipal Court.

According to reports several security guards were seen around the Mets’ family lounge near the clubhouse after New York’s 6-2 loss to Colorado. Rodriguez’s father-in-law had swelling above his right eyebrow. He is in the hospital recovering with a scape on his face and the bump above his eye.

Rodriguez went to a restricted part of the clubhouse when reports approached him, shortly later a police officer and a security guard went to the same area.
