Chris Arreola Wins On Friday Night Fights

News

Chris Arreola was victorious over Manuel Quezada in the main event of ESPN2 Friday Night Fights by unanimous decision. Arreola knocked Quezada down twice in the 9th round and once in the 12th. Arreola won with scores of 117-108, 118-107, 118-107.

Arreola fought at a consistent pace early in the fight, slowly softening Quezada up. He caught Quezada with an uppercut in the 9th that sent him to his knees. Arreola followed up with another barrage of punches that sent Quezada all the way down to the mat. Quezada arose and survived the round. Quezada did some of his best work in the rounds after the knockdowns, until the 12th and final round when he was put to the canvas once more.

Notoriously inconsistent in his training and diet, Chris Arreola weighed in at 256 pounds for this fight. It was six pounds heaver than his last fight. Despite the higher weight, Arreola looked better physically than he did against Adamek in April.

After the fight, Arreola mentioned a possible injury to his left hand while announcers also noticed him having trouble with his right.

Chris Arreola improves to 29-2, 25 KOs with the win. Manuel Quezada falls to 29-6, 18 KOs with the loss.
