So I understand that Mel Gibson’s been in the news of late – for all the wrong reasons. Thankfully, this bit of news isn’t about Crazy Mel or Mad Mel, but it is about Mad Max. In an early announcement to retailers, MGM/UA has announced that Mad Max is coming to Blu-ray on October 5th.
Specs and details about George Miller’s futuristic thriller have yet to be revealed, but with the recent trend of MGM titles being combo packs, expect the Mad Max: Special Edition DVD in addition to a Blu-ray Disc with upgraded audio and video. The title carries a suggested retail price of $24.99.
October 5th is becoming quite a big release date for movies on home video. Besides Mad Max, these titles will also find their way onto store shelves: The Exorcist, Grindhouse, The Karate Kid (remake), The Last of the Mohicans, The Maltese Falcon, A Nightmare on Elm Street (remake), Ocean’s Eleven (original), Splice, The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, The Human Centipede, and Troll 2.
