More X-Men: First Class Casting News – Oliver Platt is a Man in Black

Casting News, News, Projects

With principal photography less than a month away, casting news has intensified with Matthew Vaughn’s X-Men: First Class. Earlier we told you that Rose Byrne would play the love interest to Charles Xavier (played by James McAvoy). Now Deadline reports that Oliver Platt has joined the cast in a role known only as the The Man In Black. He is neither a mutant nor presumed to be Johnny Cash.

Just like the story, no details are available. Platt joins the actors already mentioned as well as Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Alice Eve (Emma Frost), Caleb Landry (Banshee), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Lucas Till (Havoc), Kevin Bacon as an unknown villain, Winter’s Bone‘s Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), and Twilight star Edi Gathegi (Darwin), and the newly announced Jason Flemyng who will play Azazel.

X-Men: First Class is scheduled to hit theaters on June 3, 2011.
