Rose Bryne Cast as Love Interest in X-Men: First Class

Casting News, News, Projects

Rose Bryne, who I’ll always remember as Alex in the thriller Wicker Park, is the latest name to enter negotiations to join Fox’s X-Men: First Class. Over at The Hollywood Reporter, they say that her role will be that of Moira MacTaggert, a scientist and an authority on genetic mutation. She’ll also be the love interest of James McAvoy, who plays Charles Xavier.

Director Matthew Vaughn and 20th Century Fox have steadily kept the story line under wraps, but has at least acknowledged that the focus will be on Marvel’s famed team of supermutants, the X-Men. Only now we will see the younger incarnations of the team than seen in the previous trilogy.

Shooting is slated to begin in London at the end of August so that it can have plenty of time for post-production and meet its June 3, 2011 release.

With the casting of Bryne, she joins Michael Fassbender, Kevin Bacon, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult and Alice Eve.
