The three time Pro-Bowler has decided to hang up his cleats.
Thomas announced that he was retiring because he could no longer play at the level he expected from himself. Thomas watched video of Chargers practice and thought he wasn’t performing well enough for his standards and realized if he couldn’t do it in practice, he wouldn’t be able to do it in games.
Thomas played in Jacksonville last year after spending the first 10 years of his career in Philadelphia. He came to the Chargers this offseason as a possible replacement for hold-out Marcus McNeill.
McNeill has reportedly made some headway towards a new contract with the Chargers but still isn’t close to rejoining the team. He was placed on exempt list on Friday meaning when he does sign his contract with the Chargers he will be suspended for the first 3 games.
