WWE Studios has just begun production on a drama entitled Bending the Rules, according to Deadline Hollywood. In the film, Edge plays a roguish New Orleans detective who is brought up on corruption charges by the local district attorney, played by Jamie Kennedy. On the day the DA loses the case, however, his prized 1956 Studebaker Goldenhawk is swiped and trying to get it back involves one complication after another. The supporting cast includes Jessica Walter (Arrested Development), Jennifer Esposito (Samantha Who?), Alicia Witt (Friday Night Lights) and Phillip Baker Hall (Sydney, Boogie Nights).
Bending the Rules will be helmed by Saving Grace executive producer Artie Mandelberg. Dylan Schaffer is credited with the screenplay.
The film is latest WWE project to get the greenlight. Since the World Wrestling Entertainment company is financing, the drama will be shot quickly and will have a limited release or go directly to Blu-ray/DVD sometime in 2011.
Upcoming, WWE Films will give the John Cena starring vehicle Legendary a limited release in September (trailer below), and drop Knucklehead, starring Paul Wight (aka “The Big Show”), on DVD and Blu-ray on November 9th.
