Last issue the team hit Checkmate’s headquarters under the assumption that Max Lord would be there. This issue, however, they find that they’re wrong. Unfortunately they figure this out after they’ve already been made and need a quick exit.
Whoops.
They do find their way out, though it isn’t easy, and they retreat back to the decomissioned JLI embassy in Germany….where Max Lord is waiting to talk to Fire…at gunpoint!
