Spoiler Warnings: What was the point of X-Men: Curse of the Mutants – Blade #1 by Duane Swierczynski?

Spoilers

So Blade is hunting vampires with his current horrible haircut, and he’s discovering that other vampire slayers are being killed. So he and a few others go and start finding dead sects of vampires and then follow a lead to go and take out Xarus. They know where he is, they can be there in the day time, and they can make a big explosion that will dump him and his followers in daylight. Problem solved, right?

Well, no, Xarus and his vamps all have little magic gems that make them immune to daylight, so they proceed to go to war with the slayers. The vamps outnumbering them by vast vast amounts. Hundreds to a dozen.

So Blade is the last slayer standing and manages to escape with his life. Taking into account something Xarus said about mutants he heads to San Fransisco where he ran into Wolverine and Colossus in last weeks X-Men #2.
