Harold Ramis confirmed it. Ivan Reitman is directing it. Bill Murray spoiled a little bit of it for us.
But still, what is the extremely anticipated Ghostbusters 3 going to be about? Now we finally have a little bit of an idea.
If you’re looking to not know a thing about the film, then I’d sincerely avoid this report because you don’t want to be spoiled or anything. For those of you too anxious and antsy to go much longer without knowing about our favorite quartet of paranormal warriors, then continue on.
Bloody-Disgusting has reported that Reitman is looking to jump-start a brand new franchise in the ghost-busting world by inserting some younger generations. Apparently Dana Barrett’s (Sigourney Weaver) son Oscar (from Ghostbusters II) is going to be revealed to be the son of none other than Dr. Peter Venkman (Murray).
Oscar is now in his early twenties and in line to take over where his father left off. This is a rumor that Weaver actually let slip out in an interview at the end of last year. Who will join Oscar in his fight against the spooks and ghosts remains to be seen.
Bloody-Disgusting also confirmed again that much of the original cast will be coming back for the third film. That includes Murray, Weaver, Ramis, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Rick Moranis. Nothing else has been revealed, but that doesn’t mean I’m any less excited for it all.
