MLB News: Jeff Francoeur Traded From New York Mets To Texas Rangers

News

The Rangers were looking for a right handed bat, and I guess they thought Francoeur can be that bat.

The Mets traded Jeff Francoeur and cash to the Texas Rangers for infielder Joaquin Arias. The deal was completed just before the midnight deadline for a player to be available to his new team for the playoffs.

Francoeur is hitting .237 with 11 homers and 54 RBIs and leads the NL with 11 outfield assists.

“I have an opportunity to go with a team that will be in the playoffs,” Francoeur said. “I feel comfortable going out there.”
