NFL News: Matt Lienart Trade Talks Heating Up

News

The Bills, Raiders, and Giants have all reported inquired about Lienart.

Lienart is unhappy that he is not starting for the Cardinals and has been vocal about his displeasure. The former Heisman Trophy winner told reporters that he had outplayed Anderson in training camp and preseason, and that his problem with his coach “probably goes beyond football.”

The Cardinals have been calling teams to guage interest in the QB. The Bills have said they haven’t talked about trading for Lienart and won’t be trading for Lienart despite reports to the contrary. The Raiders and Giants have both confirmed interest in a trade with the Giants being the most plausible with the injury to back-up QB Jim Sorgi.

“Well, it depends on what the availability and what the cost is,” Coughlin said. “I’m not saying we’re doing that [bringing in a quarterback], but our people are not caught by surprise by this [Sorgi]. Our guys have been working on this for a couple of weeks.”

Leinart has completed 83 percent of his passes for 161 yards and one touchdown with no interceptions.
